9th Induction Ceremony
The Ninth Girard Hall of Fame Banquet, held on November 11, 2006, celebrated the achievements of an exceptional group of individuals who made significant contributions to both athletics and the Girard community. Edward "Ted" O'Neil was a standout football leader of the late 1920s, while Charles Jamieson's fiery competitiveness transcended his roles as a player and coach. Frank Latell's football prowess was briefly interrupted by service on the USS Lexington, and Orlando "Pete" DePietro earned recognition as a boxer, including "The Ring Prospect of the Month." James Lambert's powerful running and academic achievements earned him class valedictorian and Eagle Scout honors, while Cindy Niemczura excelled in track and basketball, setting school records. Louis Antonucci broke a rushing record in football and continued his career at Iowa University and Kent State University. Jim Warga's baseball talents shone at Wooster College, and Brian Rafferty's multi-sport success extended to Hiram College. Dominic Malito, honored with the Community Service Award, generously supported Girard's youth through sponsorships and scholarships, leaving a lasting impact on the community's athletic and academic achievements.
