7th Induction Ceremony
The Seventh Girard Hall of Fame Banquet, held on November 22, 2003, celebrated a distinguished group of individuals who left an enduring mark on the world of sports and community service. Bill Beach, a three-year letterman in basketball and an elite bowler in the Vindicator All Star league, was honored for his outstanding achievements. Robert Parilla, a seven-letter athlete in football and track, earned All-Steel Valley honors for football and contributed to championship victories in track. Ray Beach, a versatile athlete and member of the 1953 State final four basketball team, was recognized for his all-around athletic prowess in basketball and football. Gregg Augustine, a boxing champion with wins in the Youngstown Golden Gloves and Northeast Ohio AAU, was celebrated for his achievements in the boxing arena. Tom Chismark, a standout in football and basketball, received accolades for his contributions to Girard sports. Bob Steele, an athlete excelling in both football and basketball, earned recognition for his accomplishments on the field. Chester Mitchell, nicknamed "Chet the Jet" for his speed and endurance, received a record 12 varsity letters in football, basketball, baseball, and track during his GHS career. Ron Mamrick, a golf master and three-time 1st team ALL MVC selection, was honored for his prowess on the golf course. Bob Sanders received the Community Service Award for his extensive work with track and field events, dedication to the Mahoning Valley Track Association, and his long-standing service to the Special Olympics in Columbus and the local meet. Together, these inductees represented excellence in sports and community service, leaving a lasting legacy for Girard High School.
