He holds the esteemed title of being the most decorated cross country and track and field performer in the storied history of Girard High School. His accomplishments include an impressive four-time sweep of All-Conference, All-County, and All-Ohio distinctions. His excellence was further highlighted by his three selections to the First Team All-Ohio, along with securing titles as a district and regional champion in cross country. Notably, he captained the exceptional Indian teams that clinched the state championship twice, in 1998 and 2000, showcasing his leadership and contributions to these historic victories. His legacy continues as the current holder of the school record in cross country with an impressive time of 15:35. Transitioning to track and field, his excellence persisted as he was twice named to the First Team All-Ohio. In the state meet, he demonstrated his prowess by securing a fourth-place finish in the 3200 meters in 2000 and an even more impressive third-place finish in 2001. His dominance extends to the school record books as he holds the current record in the 3200 meters, clocking in at an impressive 9:26. He's also a member of the school record 4x800 relay team, contributing to their remarkable time of 7:59. Upon his graduation from high school as the class valedictorian, his passion for running led him to continue his journey at The Ohio State University, where he lettered three times. Not only did he excel on the track, but he also earned the esteemed status of Academic All-Big 10, underscoring his dedication to both academics and athletics. Twice honored as an Ohio State Scholar Athlete, he was chosen as the captain of the 2005 Buckeyes, a team that secured an impressive second place in the Big 10 and an 11th-place finish at the National meet. His mark on Ohio State's history is palpable, as he recorded the sixth-fastest 10K time in the university's history, clocking in at a remarkable 29:47.
