Was a star at GHS in football, baseball and basketball. After graduation, he attended OSU on a football scholarship and held the Ohio Stadium record for longest punt of 85 yards. Transferred to the University ofMichigan. Played halfback for the Wolverines from 1929-1931. Was the first captain of two sports at Michigan as he not only captained the football team, but also the 1932 baseball team where he won 3 letters. After graduation he played professional baseball as a first baseman for the Cleveland Indians and the Pittsburgh Pirates.
