Graduating as part of the class of 1982, she stood as a trailblazer for Girard's girls' athletics, earning recognition for her remarkable contributions to the burgeoning girls' track and basketball programs. Her impact led her to gather seven letters during her time at GHS – three from basketball and four from track. In basketball, her achievements were numerous. She secured coveted spots on the 1st Team All-MVC and 1st Team All-Trumbull County selections, and was bestowed the prestigious Trumbull "AA" Player of the Year title. Her journey continued at Ashland College, where she enrolled in 1982. Quickly immersing herself in the lady Eagles' basketball program, she maintained her streak of contributions for the following four years. Over this period, she accumulated four varsity letters and achieved the distinction of earning All-Ohio Conference honors for her exceptional performance.
