Playing a pivotal role in the 1980 GHS State Championship Girl's Track team, she shone in five different events, leaving an indelible mark on the team's success. Her prowess extended to the shot put, 200 and 440 meters, 400 meter relay, and the mile relay. Contributing significantly to their triumph, the 1980 team went undefeated throughout the season, securing an MVC Championship and triumphing at the Warren Invitational, Sectional and District meets, culminating in their crowning achievement in Columbus. During this exceptional season, she achieved a school-record time of 64.2 seconds in the 440-meter event during a victory over Boardman. At the State meet, her shot put performance saw her secure fourth place with a remarkable toss of 38.5 feet. This throw not only earned her a high position but also shattered the GHS school record she had set earlier in the year, surpassing it by nearly three feet. Part of the 400 meter relay team alongside her teammates Terry Murray, Beatrese Jones, and Jackie Jones, she led the quartet to an impressive victory, setting a new State record as they crossed the finish line in a swift 49 seconds flat. Embarking on a track scholarship journey to Kent State, she continued her athletic endeavors. Over the course of two years, she participated in the shot put, 4x100 relay, 4x200 relay, and the 400 meter dash. Her final two years marked a shift to the decathlon, showcasing her versatility and dedication to the sport.
