The tenets that underpin community service are manifold. It embodies the act of surpassing expectations to effect substantial change within a community. His embodiment of community service marked a transformative phase, altering behaviors, perspectives, and caring attitudes toward both Girard High School and our local community. Over the course of 25 years, he sowed numerous values into students and staff alike. He cultivated within us a sense of pride, introduced discipline that had been sorely lacking upon his arrival, and expressed love in a profoundly distinct manner. Having served as a teacher, administrator, and coach for a cumulative 45 years across six different school systems, his contributions were vast. A significant aspect of his community service revolved around Girard High School, where he played an instrumental role from 6 AM to 1 PM every day, week after week, year after year, for a quarter-century. The newly established access road on the west side of Shannon Road now serves as a reminder of "The Cochran Way," encapsulating his enduring impact.
