ABOUT

Thriving as a versatile athlete at Girard High School, she found accomplishment and accolades across her chosen disciplines of basketball, cross country, and track. Within the Lady Indians basketball squad, her leadership was evident through three captaincy honors bestowed by teammates and coaches. Her tenure at GHS witnessed her secure records, including the remarkable feat of 14 assists in a single game and 12 steals, both of which endure as high-water marks. The mantle of most assists in her career, totaling 483, and the second all-time rank in steals at 326 are still hers to claim. Additionally, she holds the school's all-time record for made three-point shots, boasting an impressive 126. As a point of culmination, she accumulated 713 points throughout her tenure with the Lady Indians. Her senior year yielded a cascade of honors, including 1st Team All-TAC, 1st Team All-Trumbull County, 2nd Team All-Northeast Ohio, and a Special Mention All-Ohio recognition in Division I. In the realm of Cross Country, she carved a pioneering path by becoming the first female runner from GHS to qualify for the Division I State meet in 1999. Her prowess continued to flourish, leading her to Division I regional qualification in 2001, accompanied by her designation as a 1st Team All-MAC member. Her achievements seamlessly extended into the 2002 track season, where she etched a new school record in the discus with an impressive 108' 10" throw. A year later, during the OHSAA Regional Track and Field Championships in 2003, she surpassed her own record with a remarkable 111'2" toss. Continuing her journey, she graced the basketball courts of Bethany College during the 2003 season, donning the role of a backup point guard and contributing to the team's qualification for the Division II NCAA tournament. Beyond collegiate play, she embraced a calling to serve in the United States Air Force, achieving distinction through the Warhawk Award, bestowed upon the fittest female cadet in her graduating class of 800. Armed with a Bachelor's degree in Sport and Health Sciences, she expanded her academic prowess through the attainment of dual Master's degrees in Sports Management and Mental Health Counseling. Her passion extended to coaching, as she guided basketball athletes at Franklin & Marshall College, and more recently, she mentored two notable athletes within the Association of Volleyball Tour, including Girard's own Tealle Hunkus, a fellow Girard Hall of Famer. Currently, she directs her energies toward enhancing the lives of youth in underrepresented communities through an outreach program for schools and non-profits, partnering with California State University.
