Throughout his time at GHS, he earned the esteemed recognition of being a three-time 1st Team All-Metro Athletic Conference selection as a linebacker, complemented by three appearances on the IS Team All-Trumbull County. During his senior year, his outstanding defensive prowess led him to be honored as the "Defensive Player of the Year" by both the MAC and the Youngstown Vindicator. Standing as a leader in tackles, he continued to make his mark by securing a spot on the All-NEO First Team and achieving the distinction of a 2nd Team All-Ohio selection during his senior season. Notably, his senior year witnessed his instrumental role in guiding Girard to a triumphant state playoff win against Waterloo, although the journey concluded with a loss against Sandusky Perkins. Transitioning to Walsh University, he seamlessly continued his legacy as a defensive standout, displaying the same dedication and skill that had characterized his time at Girard. Throughout his Walsh career, he garnered four letters and made a significant impact by consistently leading the team in tackles for three seasons. In his senior year, he achieved an exceptional feat by topping the Great Lakes Interscholastic Athletic Conference in tackles, recording a remarkable 126 tackles. His exceptional performance earned him the distinction of holding the second all-time position for career tackles in the Walsh record books. His role as team captain further solidified his leadership presence, leading to his recognition with All-GLIAC honors and the coveted title of team defensive MVP – a fitting culmination to their championship-winning GLIAC season. The recognition of his prowess extended even further, as Don Henson's National Football Gazette bestowed upon him the honor of being an All-American linebacker in their esteemed annual publication.
