Fred was inducted into the Youngstown Baseball Oldtimers Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Curbstone Coaches Hall of Fame in 1998. Faiver is known synonymously with local baseball. He batted .393 for the class A East Side Civics, leading them to a league title in 1949. He led the 1950 CIO team to 18 consecutive victories and his 1951 McKelvey'steam to a league title. He was invited to baseball schools conducted by the Chicago Cubs and New York Giants. He has served as baseball scout for Hiram College for 39 years and helped hundreds of area youth in furthering their education and athletic careers.
