ABOUT
An outstanding offensive blocker from the guard position for the potent Girard offense in the 1926 season. He played on both sides of the ball and was regarded as a key defensive stopper. His play and education was interrupted to fulfill a need for supporting his family. Upon returning to school and graduating in 1930, he went on to serve four years aboard the US Navy aircraft carrier Lexington. His love for athletics picked up again as he pursued and excelled as an amateur boxer. Although records were not kept, he won several armed forces bouts and competed against some of the best navy fighters from fellow ships.
