Despite his diminutive stature, Dustin Helle, known affectionately as the "little big man," departed Girard High School with a remarkable feat of holding six career football records. These records included an impressive career reception count of 122 catches, 27 touchdown receptions, an accumulated career yardage of 2674 yards, a single-season yardage record of 1200 yards, a single-season tally of 14 touchdown receptions, and two kickoff returns resulting in touchdowns. Even as time has passed, up until the 2013 season, Dustin's grip on the records for all-time receiving yards and all-time receptions remains intact. Girard High School bore witness to Dustin's multifaceted athleticism, evident by his acquisition of ten varsity letters during his tenure: three in football, three in basketball, and four in baseball. In football, he secured a spot on the 1st Team All-State in 2001 and earned recognition as 2nd Team All-State in 2002. In 2002, he was also crowned Trumbull County Football Player of the Year, a testament to his outstanding performance. At Youngstown State University, Dustin's passion for the sport continued. He embarked on his collegiate journey as a preferred walk-on player and actively contributed from 2003 to 2007. His dedication and character were acknowledged when he received the Ron Stoops Most Inspirational Player Award in 2007, an honor bestowed by fellow players. Beyond athletics, Dustin pursued a career as an electrical engineer at Axios Engineering Inc., a defense contractor for the government. Currently residing in Ashburn, Virginia, he exemplifies success both on and off the field.
