Affectionately known to his teammates and friends as "Scrappy". Earned 8 varsity letters while competing in four sports for GHS. Leading pitchers on the 1949 Steel Valley Championship team and member of the Girard American Legion championship team of that summer. Recognized as one of the valley's finest hurlers, he spent three years with the Class A Minor league affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. Outstanding fast-pitch softball player with top area teams. Coached locally at St. Rose School from 1966-1973 and won 3 Parochial League titles.
