Genuine community leaders take on the responsibility of enhancing and nurturing the well-being of their local community. This dedication is often manifested through countless hours of volunteering, selflessly offering their time, services, and resources for the advancement of community projects. What's remarkable is that these efforts are undertaken without any expectation of compensation. Beyond his roles as a devoted husband, father, family-oriented individual, and accomplished business owner, he has demonstrated a resolute commitment to enhancing our community and school district, striving to make them more vibrant places to reside. His ongoing generosity, encompassing both time and financial contributions, underscores his commitment to instilling a genuine sense of "Girard pride" within our students, athletic programs, and community members. There is one aspect, however, in which he tends to fall short: receiving recognition and gratitude. Some of his remarkable contributions over the course of the last four decades include teaming up with his wife to provide annual meals for our football and basketball teams. What they offer isn't just a simple meal; it's a lavish feast prepared with the utmost care and affection they hold for Girard. As a dedicated member of the Football Fathers, he crafted stencils that continue to be used for painting the distinctive "G" on numerous driveways throughout the town. He played an integral role in designing and constructing the initial "Captains Award," a mainstay at sports banquets for years. Additionally, he fashioned the iconic TeePee for Girard's football players to burst through, and he generously provided the first oversized 'G' at the stadium. When the original was defaced, he not only reconstructed it but donated another. His commitment further extended to Tod Park, where he devoted considerable time and resources to construct dugouts and a Concession stand. This stand, which generates the necessary funds for Little League baseball and softball operations in Girard, has become an integral part of our community. His voluntary coaching efforts span over a decade, during which he maintained facilities and fields for the youth of Girard. He has consistently sponsored youth teams within Girard and remains a key sponsor for the annual GA.A golf outing. His contributions, both in terms of time and financial support, are truly immeasurable. As a volunteer in community service, he doesn't seek compensation, not because he lacks value, but because his actions are invaluable.
