Named captain of the 1944 football team. Earned 8 varsity letters at GHS (2 football. 3 track. 2 basketball). Dubbed the `Girard Giant’ as evidenced by his 6'1", 210Ib. frame. Voted Al- Trumbull County tacklein 1943 & 1944. Was a three-year starter for the John Carroll Blue Streaks earned 1st team All-Big Four and 2nd team International News Service AIl-Ohio honors. Teammate of NFL coaching legend Don Shula while at JCU. Drafted and signed by George Halas of the Chicago Bears in 1951 and later played for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
